अनुच्छेद
मनुष्य अपने स्वार्थ के लिए पशुओं को अपने नियंत्रण में लेकर उन्हें मनमाने ढंग से प्रशिक्षित करता है। इस प्रशिक्षण के बाद वह पशु को अपने धनार्जन व सुख-सुविधा के लिए प्रयुक्त करना आरंभ कर देता है। बोझ ढोने, यातायात, हल खींचना, रहट चलाना, कोल्हू चलवाना, गन्ने की पिराई आदि अनेक कामों के लिए बैलों, घोड़ों, गधों, बछड़ों, ऊँटों, हाथियों का खुलकर प्रयोग होता है। ऐसे काम करते और करवाते समय प्रायः मानव अपने संरक्षित, प्रशिक्षित पशु की सुख-सुविधा, इच्छा-अनिच्छा और सामर्थ्य-असामर्थ्य को भुला देता है। उसे यह ध्यान ही नहीं रहता कि वह भी एक जीता-जागता प्राणी है। उसका भी अपना जीवन तथा सीमाएँ हैं। मानव इन पशुओं को निजी जीवन से भी वंचित कर डालता है, जिससे उनकी आगामी पीढ़ियों का आगमन अवरुद्ध हो जाता है। यही कारण है कि संसार से जीव-जंतुओं की प्रजातियाँ या तो लुप्त हो चुकी हैं या लुप्तप्राय हैं। मानव स्वभाव से ही स्वार्थी प्रवृत्ति का है। अपनी सुविधा के लिए जीव-जंतुओं का शोषण तो किया ही, साथ ही मनोरंजन व आमोद-प्रमोद के लिए भी उनका प्रयोग किया है। बंदर, रीछ, नेवला, तोते, कबूतर आदि का प्रयोग खेल-तमाशाओं के लिए किया जाता है। सर्कस में तो अनेक पशुओं का प्रयोग किया जाता है। उन्हें भूखे-प्यासे रखकर प्रशिक्षित किया जाता है और मनोरंजन के लिए प्रस्तुत किया जाता है। उनके अनुकूल आहार तथा जलवायु का ध्यान किए बिना ही उनका शोषण किया जाता है।
Passage
Human beings, driven by selfish interests, bring animals under their control and train them according to their own wishes. After this training, they begin to use animals for earning money and for their own comfort and convenience. Bulls, horses, donkeys, calves, camels and elephants are widely used for carrying loads, transportation, ploughing fields, operating water wheels and oil presses, and crushing sugarcane. While making animals perform such tasks, humans often forget the comfort, wishes, abilities and limitations of their trained animals. They fail to remember that animals are also living beings with their own lives and limitations. Humans even deprive these animals of their private life, which obstructs the arrival of their future generations. This is why many animal species have either become extinct or are on the verge of extinction. Human beings are naturally selfish. They exploit animals for their convenience as well as for entertainment and amusement. Monkeys, bears, mongooses, parrots and pigeons are used for games and shows. Many animals are used in circuses. They are trained by keeping them hungry and thirsty and are presented for entertainment. Their suitable food and climatic conditions are often ignored, resulting in their exploitation.
